Amira Adawe interviewed today Safiya Mohamed who is alum of the Young Women’s Wellness and Leadership Initiative (YWWLI). Safiya how she has experience of colorism, how it impacted her and her friends self-esteem, the practices of skin-lightening in the Somali community and taking part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Safiya recently graduated from Central High School in Saint Paul, MN and fall of 2020 she will start studying journalism at University of St. Thomas.
